Faculty Advice to Graduates

Thursday, May 3, 2018

Our faculty have been in your shoes, on the verge of a new path in life beginning and trying to find their footing in the middle of it all. Here are what a few of our faculty members would say to those graduating (and all students!) this weekend:

Matt Burke

“Be willing and open, you never know where these highly powerful attitudes will take you.”

Sarah Gross

“Travel as much as you can and work at building your own community of new people!”

Mike McCaffrey

“If you want to be an artist, go be an artist, go make work. Get down in the dirt, struggle with it, and push yourself. Put yourself out there and go meet other artists who are doing the same. Seek out a community, or if you have to, build one, then truly engage with it. Community is key, even the most solitary artist needs friends, art isn't made in a vacuum. Follow your heart and stick to your guns! Good luck!”
