Undergraduate Scholarships and Awards

Undergraduate Students and Art Some Examples of Undergraduate Scholarship Recipients and Awards

In 2010, Dance major Libby Ingram received the Elizabeth Sherbon Award.  This departmental award allowed Ingram to participate in a summer intensive master class with Doug Varone and Dancers, a company that has won 11 New York Dance and Performance Awards (Bessies).

During her studies in Film and Media Studies, Sandra Ristovska, a 2010 graduate, was awarded multiple scholarships for her academic achievement and her richly textured documentary film “Kaleidoscope” which was nominated for a regional Emmy award. Sandra received the Mark Amin scholarship in the Department, and a Chancellor’s fellowship. After graduation, her outstanding academic record landed her with a full scholarship to the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Pennsylvania for a Ph.D. in Communication Studies.

While an undergraduate student in the Theatre Department, Spencer Lott received the New Theatre Guild, Don Knotts Scholarship.  Today, Spencer works as a professional puppeteer, traveling between New York and Kansas City. He was an assistant builder for the national tour of Clifford the Big Red Dog and spent a week building with Avenue Q (Paris). Recently, Spencer has been shooting commercials for Tallgrass Brewing Company in Manhattan, and he has been a PA with No Strings International, an organization shooting educational films that will be sent to Haiti.

Last year, the Visual Art Department solicited proposals from students for a project they would do after graduation to jump-start their careers in the arts.  Sixteen projects from nine pools of endowed funds were awarded.
